Pleasant Pines Farm was founded in 2023 in Mt. Pleasant , SC by Renee Michelle Jones to provide a space for plant-lovers to gather, cultivate friendships and explore their creative side. The barn was in rough shape when Renee purchased the property, but with a little paint and the help of two great handymen, it has been transformed into the focal point of the farm. Landscape Architect and Interior Designer, Susan, joined Renee in 2023 to create the large vegetable and flower gardens. Susan provided her years of farming experience to create the beautiful rows you see today. Before moving to Charleston, Susan used to own and operate a 200 acre dairy farm outside of New York City, providing homemade butter to high end restaurants.
Among the chaos of timelines, busy work and family schedules, it feels nice to slow down and notice the flower blooms, the tomato seeds germinating, and do something that is just for you!
A word from the owner, Renée Michelle Jones
I have always loved nature. I stumbled upon my love of gardening, like many people, during the early months of COVID lock downs in 2020. Working in the soil was peaceful, mentally stimulating, and yet physical at the same time. I grew up in Arizona where water is always in short supply, so living in the Southeastern states, having abundant rain and good soil, was such a blessing. I watched a ton of YouTube videos about gardening and checked out library books on floral arranging. It became more than a hobby, it became healing for me. When I meet other gardeners, I realized that sentiment is shared. Caring for something as it grows is hard work but rewarding. As I always like to say, "Gardening is good for you!"
Over the years, I have taken part in several lovely farm workshops while on vacation with my mom and mother-in-law. We enjoy signing up for a flower arranging workshop or a cooking class as an activity to anchor our travel plans around. I felt like we were missing a curated experience like that in Charleston, SC so I started this adventure!
Pleasant Pines Farm is Proud to Serve the Charleston Community
